Pepperoni Pizza Bites with Marinara

Makes 16 pizza bites and 1 quart of sauce

Marinara Sauce
3 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14½ oz) can diced tomatoes
1 cup chicken stock
8 oz tomato sauce
8 oz tomato puree
2 Tbsp + 1 tsp dark brown sugar

2 cans crescent roll dough, refrigerated
1 tsp Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Herbal Pizza Pasta Magic®
12 oz sliced pepperoni
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
how to prepare

Preheat oven to 375°F.  Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet or pot over high heat. Once melted, add the onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, and 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of the Herbal Pizza Pasta Magic®. Cook, stirring frequently, until the tomatoes are thick and pasty, about 15 minutes.  As the mixture thickens, scrape the skillet or pot frequently to prevent sticking.  Add the stock, tomato sauce, tomato puree, sugar, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently until the sauce has reached the desired thickness, about 12 minutes.  Keep warm.


Unroll the crescent rolls and separate. Place on a greased baking sheet, sprinkle Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Herbal Pizza Pasta Magic® on rolls, then add 5 pepperoni and 1 Tbsp of cheese per roll.  Roll up as per the directions on can and bake 12-15 minutes.  Serve with marinara on the side.
